St.Petersburg opens the largest visa centre 08-02-2011
On 8 February 2011, following the invitation of the Finnish General Consul, Komi Representative in the Northwestern Region of Russia Valery Kyurshin attended the ceremony of opening the Finnish Visa Centre in St.Petersburg.
The red ribbon was solemnly cut by Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb, Finnish Consul General Olli Perehentupa, a representative of MFA Russia in St. Petersburg Vladimir Zapevalov and a representative of VFS Global.
The new centre will become the world’s largest, however, it will be only in charge of accepting the documents and issuing visas, since visa procurement will still be the job of the Consulate General.
On behalf of the Head of the Republic of Komi and the Komi Representation Office, Valery Kyurshin congratulated the Finnish General Consul on the matter and wished him further success in his work, well-being and prosperity for the benefit of strengthening friendly relations between Finland and Komi.

The Visa Centre is located on the second floor of Olympic Plaza Shopping Centre at 21/5, Stremyannaya St. The centre has an area of 3,000 sq. m and 83 operator desks servicing customers. The work of the centre is monitored by VFS Global, an outsourcing company.
